Heritage
Research, restoration and education in the public interest
Public benefit
Cultural heritage for everyone
Our work is non-commercial and serves the public interest. Programmes are designed to be open, inclusive and educational, and we prioritise access for schools and local communities.
By keeping historical knowledge visible, we contribute to Latvia's cultural life and to a shared European memory.
Research & documentation
Every detail starts with a source
Members consult archives, museum collections, period photographs and scholarly literature. We record references for uniforms and equipment so that our reconstructions can be checked and improved.
We welcome research inquiries from students, historians and institutions.
Restoration & preservation
Restoring with restraint
We distinguish clearly between conserving an original and reconstructing a replica. Originals are handled minimally and documented; replicas are made to be used in education.
Proper storage, condition records and careful handling help keep material heritage intact for decades.
Education & community
Learning by taking part
Family days, school programmes and public demonstrations invite people of all ages to engage with history — through games, conversation and objects they can see up close.
Content is always adapted to the audience and framed with respect for those who lived through the events we present.
International cooperation
Latvian history in a European frame
REDUT participates in international reconstruction events and maintains contacts with associations in neighbouring countries.
These exchanges strengthen research standards and build friendships across borders.
