Preserving Military History. Reconstructing the Past. Educating Future Generations.

Kara Vēstures Rekonstrukcijas Klubs "REDUT" is a Latvian historical reconstruction association dedicated to researching, preserving and presenting military history through documentation, restoration, education and historically informed reconstruction.

Welcome

Welcome to REDUT

We are dedicated to the study and preservation of military history, with particular attention to the First World War, the Second World War and other significant conflicts.

Our work brings historical knowledge closer to the public through research, the restoration and reconstruction of uniforms and equipment, educational presentations, and cooperation with organisations that share our commitment to heritage.

Understanding history requires more than reading documents. It means preserving objects, studying the experiences of earlier generations, and presenting events responsibly and accurately.

Areas of work

Six disciplines, one commitment to accuracy

Military History Research
I

Military History Research

We study archival records, period photographs, regimental histories and published scholarship to build an accurate picture of how soldiers lived, served and were equipped — with particular attention to the First and Second World Wars.

Uniform & Equipment Restoration
II

Uniform & Equipment Restoration

Members document, conserve and carefully reconstruct historical uniforms, insignia and personal equipment, recording materials, cut and construction so that every piece can be traced back to its sources.

Reconstruction & Demonstrations
III

Reconstruction & Demonstrations

Historically informed living-history displays show daily routines, drill, camp life and material culture — always presented as education, never as glorification of conflict.

Cultural Heritage Preservation
IV

Cultural Heritage Preservation

We help protect objects, stories and sites of memory that might otherwise be lost, and cooperate with museums and local communities to keep this heritage accessible.

Education & Public Awareness
V

Education & Public Awareness

School visits, family days and public programmes turn history into a shared experience. Children and adults learn through objects, conversation and participation.

International Cooperation
VI

International Cooperation

REDUT takes part in reconstruction events and exchanges with associations across Europe, sharing research and building lasting cultural partnerships.

Our purpose

Keeping history alive for future generations

Historical heritage is part of our shared cultural memory. By studying events, preserving authentic materials and sharing knowledge openly, REDUT helps communities understand where they come from.

We present military history as a subject of learning and remembrance — never as glorification of war, and never as a political platform.
